Care after Mastectomy

• Physical exertion is restricted for about a couple of weeks after the surgery. Analgesics and antibiotics are given during this stage to alleviate pain and control infection
• Depression has to be specially handled as it might affect the patient’s ability to make the correct decisions. Patients can return to normal sexual life after six to eight weeks of the surgery.
• Post operative chemotherapy and radiation therapy may be required in some patients
