Herbal Tea Tisanes Growing In Popularity

As opposed to green, black, white and long teas, herbal teas, or tisane teas, as they are also known, are not produced from the leaves of tea plant. Instead, herbal teas are in fact infusions of dried flowers, fruits, seeds, roots and herbs. All these could come from a single plant, but combination of flowers and fruits from multiple plants are also popular.

Herbal teas are made from plants that have other potential health benefits than the tea plant. The preparation techniques may also differ. Tisane tea could be prepared as actual tea, by pouring water on the plant parts, or in a different manner. If seeds and roots of a plant are used, then these can be placed in water that boils. After a few minutes the brew is strained. Adding sugar is optional and depends on the bitterness or sweetness of the plants from which the herbal tea is made. As well as actual tea, herbal tea is also available in tea bags which prove to be very convenient. In this particular situation, the crushing grade of the ingredients found in tea bags does not affect very much the quality of the brew.

Low Cost Mastectomy Surgery Abroad For Treatment Of Breast Cancer

What is mastectomy?
The surgical procedure of complete or partial removal of one or both the breast tissues is referred to as mastectomy. Breast Cancer is the most common cause of death among women in the United States and it also attributes to one percent of cancer deaths among males. There are several techniques of conducting the procedure, which depend upon the extent of the spread of the tumor and the need to resect the surrounding tissue. Surgery is inevitable in patients suffering from breast cancer, however breast sparing surgeries, attempt to retain a part of the breast tissue to avoid cosmetic reconstruction. The five years survival rate depends upon the stage of the cancer and can range from 100% (in Stage I) to as low as 20% (in Stage IV).

Treatment Possibilities For Schizophrenia

The new research about causes of schizophrenia, about brain chemistry and its link to schizophrenia are made. And most of them are based in studying the brain and his activity. Neurotransmitters, substances that allow communication between nerve cells, have long been thought to be involved in the development of schizophrenia. In present they are an important point of research. Dopamine and glutamate neurotransmitters are probably involved in causes of schizophrenia.

Several studies was made on mice. The symptoms of schizophrenia may be caused by high levels of the chemical glutamate in the brain. Glutamate is a neurotransmitter, one of a group of chemicals that pass messages between nerve cells. Giving mice phencyclidine (PCP), which increases the transmission of glutamate between neurons in the brain, they develop behavioral abnormalities (like schizophrenic patients). They become agitated and less adept at performing tasks that involve short term memory and decision making skills.

Finding this, the next step was to find a medicine to stop or the transmission of glutamate, or to come down the levels of dopamine in the brain. This is what the new type of antipsychotics are trying to do.
